The Cultural Considerations course is part of the Breastfeeding for Health Professionals program. Upon completion the participant should be able to: describe and define the major concepts of cultural issues relating to health professionals discuss the cultural issues inherent within their clinical practice recognise how cultural influences affect the decision to breastfeed and impacts on breastfeeding behaviour, and use their knowledge of cultural diversity to effectively promote and support breastfeeding in different cultures.
Any clinical or non-clinical employee of a health institution who is required to have an understanding of breastfeeding practice. This can include non-clinical staff (such as cleaners, cooks etc) through to nurses, midwives, doctors and lactation consultants.
